Payment and confirmation
Steps three and four of the entry are the summary and the payment. Nothing is booked until you finish them: an entry left at step three is not an entry.
3 — Summary
The summary lists what you have chosen, event by event, with the price of each dog.
Underneath each dog are the extras, each with a − and a + to set the quantity:
- catalog — the printed catalog of the show.
- car parking — a parking space.
- camping car parking, with and without electrical power — a pitch for a camper.
- meal coupon — meal vouchers for the day.
They start at zero, and what is not offered is what the organizer is not selling. Places are limited: a parking option that disappears has run out.
event amount is the total for that event, total amount the total of everything.
Why the price is what it is
Two things move it. The number of dogs you enter: the second is usually cheaper than the first, the third cheaper again. And when you enter: a show can have earlier closing dates, each with its own prices, so the same dog in the same class costs less in January than in the last week.
That is why the class dropdown showed a full price and the summary may show less.
Payment method
Under payment method are the methods the organizer accepts — bank transfer, card, cash, or only some of them. Choose one and press next.
4 — Complete
The last step restates the method and the amount, and this time it is final.
credit amount is the credit you already have with this organizer. It is deducted, and amount to pay is what is left.
Press proceed to payment. The entry is now made.
If you have credit
Credit is what an entry becomes when it is cancelled: the money does not go back to your card or your bank account, it stays with the organizer for you to spend on your next entry.
You do not have to ask for it. It is applied on its own, before the payment step, so the amount at the end of the wizard is already net of it.
Two things are worth knowing:
- Credit belongs to one organizer. Fifty euro left over from a show run by one kennel club cannot be spent at another's. If your credit does not appear, it is almost always because it belongs elsewhere.
- A single entry cannot mix organizers. If you pick events belonging to two of them the registration is refused and you have to enter separately, once per organizer — precisely because each entry would draw on a different balance.
When one registration covers several events, the credit is used up starting with the earliest event: the nearest show is covered first and the remainder goes to the next. An entry the credit covers in full has nothing left to pay, no card commission, and is recorded as paid straight away.
The payment reference
If you chose a bank transfer, DogShow gives you a payment reference and shows it plainly: Please make the bank transfer with the reference…
Copy it into the description of the transfer, exactly as it is. That reference is the only thing connecting an anonymous payment to your entry. Without it somebody in the office has to match your surname against a list of hundreds, and until they succeed your entry stays unpaid — with the reminders that go with it.
The reference is also on the entry document and in the confirmation email, so it is not lost if you close the page.
Card payments need none of this: they are recorded immediately. Cash is settled at the desk on the day.
Email confirmation
A confirmation arrives at your address with the entry attached: the dogs, the classes, the extras, the amount, the IBAN and the reference.
Keep it. It is the proof of what you entered and at what price, and it is what to reread when a doubt about the class turns up two weeks later. The same document stays available in my entries, described in the next chapter.
If nothing arrives within a few minutes, check the spam folder, then check the address in your settings. If it is wrong, correct it and ask the organizer to send the confirmation again.
